Hello Troop 96!
Thank you all for all of your help raising funds for my Eagle Project. I would like to ask for help again, this time to complete the actual project. I am working with the Phoenix Group, a domestic violence support group located in North Chicago, to paint and install shelves, a counter-top, and multiple cabinets in a storage closet. I will need help on four different dates, and from different numbers of Scouts.
Thursday June 2, 5 P.M.-7 P.M.- 3 Scouts to paint cabinets at my house
Friday June 3, 5 P.M.-9 P.M.- 5 Scouts to empty and paint closet
Saturday June 4, The plan is to work between 11 A.M.-7 P.M. – any help during these hours would be great – need about 5 Scouts to build shelving system and install counter/cabinets
Sunday June 5, Approx. 11 A.M.-7 P.M.- 5 Scouts to refill closet
Please email me at bsatroop0@gmail.com if you are able to help.
Thank you all

Saturday, May 28:
The troop continues its nearly 30-years tradition of placing flags on the graves of US veterans. We will gather at Avon Cemetery (just south of Grayslake North High School) at 9 AM. This is a Rain or Shine event.
Please wear your uniform. Normally, this project takes about 90 minutes. After placing the flags, we will have a brief ceremony, a keynote speaker and the playing of Taps. Immediately after the ceremony, all participants will enjoy a simple cookout lunch.
Monday, May 30:
The annual Memorial Day Community Parade will step off from Grayslake Central HS at 9:15. Scouts wishing to participate can join with other Grayslake scouting units. Troop 96 does not formally participate as our primary event is the placing of flags on Saturday.
Our regular troop meeting on Monday will move to Jones Island (on the corner of Harvey and Alleghany in GL). Scouts can arrive as early as 5 pm. We will finish at 8 pm (30 minutes earlier than normal). The troop will provide a hot dog cookout and anyone is welcome to bring extra foods to share.
This is an informal gathering – wear a Troop or Scouting t-shirt. Bring games and/or wear your swimsuit.
Jim Bryant. our troop’s newest Eagle Scout, will be formally recognized at his Court of Honor on June 4. The ceremony will be held at St. Gilbert’s Church beginning at 10 AM. All Scouts and their families are cordially invited to attend. There will be a reception immediately following the formal program. Click here for a copy of the announcement.
Parents, families and friends are invited to the Troop 96 Spring Court of Honor. The Scouts will be recognized for their accomplishments since the last Court of Honor in January. Please join us beginning at 7 PM in our regular meeting place. Here’s a list of the items each patrol are expected to bring…

This month, the PLC’s plans calls for the troop to head to our own Camp Crown for the weekend. On Saturday, we’ll head to the Bristol Shooting Range for rifle target shooting. The Conservation Club of Kenosha operates the range and is very good with our Scouts. There is an extra fee of $20 to cover ammunition costs for each Scout that wants to shoot.
This month’s permission slip, $15 cash for food and $20 cash for ammunition (If applicable) are due on May 16 – no exceptions.
Grab the permission slip here. Please add your phone number and your cellular carrier (e.g., ATT, Verizon, etc) to receive an out
As the school year is drawing to a close so too are preparations for our great northern adventure.
Final balance payments for camping fees, clothing ordered, OA fees and transportation fees are now due.
The final day for payment of these fees is this coming Monday, May 16.
Fees can be paid by cash, check (payable to Troop 96), or scout account (as balances permit).
Mr Cibula has details of how much is owed for any individual.
As a reminder, any individual needing financial assistance can (confidentially) have a discussion with Mr. Pat Klemens (Scoutmaster), Mrs. Jane Bryant (Committee Chairman), or Mr. Kevin Rupprecht (Chartered Organization Representative).
