Dec 22 Troop Meeting Moved to Westlake Academy

Monday’s troop meeting will be held at Westlake Academy (corner of Rt 120 and Lake Street).  Scouts are encouraged to bring food for the Order of the Arrow “Pizza Challenge” Food Drive.  Also, a Scout may bring a wrapped gift with a value up to $5.  Every Scout who brings a gift will receive a gift.

Troop Service Projects in December

A Scout is Helpful and we have plenty of opportunities this month to make a difference.  Help at one, two or all!

Food Drive: The Troop Order of the Arrow members are asking for each Scout to bring 2-3 cans of food to the Dec 15 or 22 meeting.  If 90% of the troop participates and we collect at least 100 pounds, there will be a pizza party on Dec 22.  UPDATE: More than 100 pounds of food was collected on Dec 15, but only about 16 Scouts contributed.  A lot more Scouts will need to join in to assure the pizza party.  One more chance this Monday.

Toys for Tots: Please bring an unwrapped, new toy for the Marine Corps Annual Toys for Tots Drive this Monday, Dec 15 Marines will be at the meeting as early as 6:45 to receive your donation. UPDATE: a fantastic response: we filled a lot more than the box provided.  Thanks to everyone who contributed.

Men’s Dress Ties: Please donate any men’s ties in good condition.  Ties collected will be given to a local coach who is traveling to Africa soon.  UPDATE: Quite a number of ties were collected on Dec 15.  One more chance to contribute on Dec 22.

OA Feed My Starving Children: Several troop OA Members worked two hours of service on Sat, Dec 20 at FMSC.  Nearly 120 OA members from around our Council packed enough food to feed 111 children for one year.  Thank you!

We served at PADS

Men’s Dress Ties for African Mission Trip

Collin and Justin J announced last week that their swimming coach will be heading to Africa on a mission trip.  Their coach is asking for ties to be collected that could be taken on the journey.  If you have any men’s dress ties you no longer need, please consider bringing them to a Troop Meeting in December.  Thanks.

Order of the Arrow Food Drive Challenge

Troop Arrowmen have a challenge for the troop.  If 90% of the Scouts on our roster participate in a food drive and we collect at least 100 pounds of food, there will be a Pizza Party for everyone in the troop at the Dec 22 Troop Meeting.  Mr. Wehde has agreed to cover the first $50 for food and soda!

We need at least 54 Scouts to contribute a few can goods each to make the Pizza Party a reality.  All food will be donated to food banks in our local towns.

Food can be brought in on Dec 8, 15 and 22.  Be sure to see Andrew G to have your donation marked on the score sheet.  Talk it up…make it happen!
