Training for the Patrol Leaders Council on Nov 29

A training session for all members of the Troop’s Patrol Leader’s Council will be held on Nov 8 from 1-5 PM November 29 from 9AM to 1 PM at the Grayslake Village Hall.   This meeting has now been postponed twice.  Originally scheduled on Nov, 1 the Philmont Crews scheduled their shakedown at the same time.  We moved it to Nov 8, but Merit Badge Day and a low response rate will force us to try again on November 29.  This is essential training and it’s important to hold it when the most Scouts can attend.  Since this is Thanksgiving weekend, please let me know as soon as possible if you will NOT be able to attend.

Who should attend: The patrol leaders’ council is made up of the Senior Patrol Leader, the Assistant Senior Patrol Leaders, all Patrol Leaders, Troop Guides, and other non-voting members of the PLC (Instructors, QMs, OA Troop Rep and Scribe).

What can I expect: An Introduction to Leadership Skills to enable you to run your troop.

What do I bring: Yourself in uniform, paper and pen.

Get ready to have some fun, learn a lot and become a stronger team!  Please contact Mr. Klemens as to whether or not you will attend no later than Friday, Nov 28.

Oct 14 Camping

What a fantastic outing we have planned for this month!

We will travel to Channahon State Park on Friday night.  We’ll get up on Saturday morning, fix breakfast, pack our gear and head out – either on bikes or on foot – your choice.  We will re-group at Dollinger Farms for their annual Civil War Days and eat lunch with one of the Armies.  Afterward, we will watch the battle re-enactment.  Later, we will hike/bike to McKinley Woods for Saturday’s overnight camping.  Situated on the water where the Des Plaines and Kankakee Rivers converge, it’s a great place to spend a night.  On Sunday morning, retrieve the cars from Channahon then pack up and head home.

You can grab this month’s permission slip here.  Cost for the weekend is $22 ($15 for food plus $7 to enter the Civil War battlefield).  Please return the permission slip and your money (Cash only) at the Oct 13th meeting.
