On 19 Dec 2017, the North Star District Eagle Board of Review gathered to review Kyle J for the rank of Eagle Scout. The Board reviewed his credentials, interviewed former Scoutmaster Pat Klemens and had a long discussion with Kyle. The Board was very complimentary of his paperwork and they found his credentials complete. They agreed: Kyle J is our troop’s newest Eagle Scout.
Kyle becomes the 8th Scout in Troop 96 to reach Scouting’s highest rank this year, setting a new record for the troop. Kyle also joins his brother, Chris, as both of them are now Eagles. Watch for details regarding Kyle’s planned Eagle Court of Honor. In the meantime, be sure to congratulate Kyle on his accomplishment.
Well done, Kyle. We’re proud of you!
Our last session at PADS this season was completed on Dec 14 at the United Protestant Church. Troop 96 has been working PADS for 17 years. We set up for 36 potential guests but as we were about to leave, we were asked to set up an additional 9 sleeping pads. While we’re proud to be able to help the community, we are reminder each time that there are people who are much less fortunate than we are. Thanks to everyone who helped out!
09 Nov 2017 – Troop 96 showed up in force tonight for the second month of service at United Protestant Church. Fifteen Scouts and adults set up the facility just as the first big temperature plunge of the year. It could be as cold as 18 degrees by morning. Thanks to the troop’s work, approximately 40 people without shelter will have a warm place to sleep.
This month, we complete our camping year with the big Webelos Invitational Campout. We will host area Webelos Scouts and showcase Troop 96.
The campout will be held at Camp Ohdakota near Burlington, Wisconsin.
Scouts should be in the parking lot on Friday night by 5:15 with their gear. Scouts should eat dinner before arriving.
Permission Slip is due Nov 6 at the troop meeting.
On 30 Oct 2017, the North Star District Advancement team met as a Board of Review during our regular Monday Troop Meeting. The Board convened to review Rahil V’s credentials to be an Eagle Scout. After an interview of his current and former Scoutmasters, a thorough evaluation of his documentation followed by a wide-ranging conversation with Rahil, the Board unanimously approved Rahil as our troop’s newest Eagle Scout! Rahil is, of course, relieved and elated to be done, but has said he hopes to help other Scouts in the troop complete their journey to Eagle.
Watch this space or look for announcements at the troop meeting so you can attend Rahil’s Court of Honor. Well done, Rahil! We’re proud of you!
What a great weekend for a campout! The troop had a great time soaring through the trees on the Ziplining Campout
The Troop’s first time helping at PADS this year was on Thursday, Oct 12 at United Protestant Church in downtown Grayslake. Thanks to the great work by the participants (see photo), the work went quick.
It’s important work, too. We’ll help again in November and December as well. Come on out, make a difference and help your community.
Troop 96’s newest Eagle Scout, Dalton Nitto, completed his Board of Review on Oct 12, 2017. The Board reviewed his credentials and conducted detailed interviews of Mr. Waldenstrom and Dalton. Their unanimous decision: Dalton is an Eagle Scout!
Well done! You are the 80th Eagle Scout from Troop 96. We look forward to celebrating with you at your Court of Honor.
