New Poll Asks You About Eagle Merit Badges |

To become an Eagle, a Scout must earn 21 merit badges in total. Of these 21, a Scout must earn 12 "Eagle Scout-required" badges. This month's poll asks, "Which is the most important of the Eagle-required badges to earn?" It's up to you to decide what "most important" means. Go and vote now. The poll is on the lower right corner of the page.

As of March 10, fifteen Scouts contributed to the total of $936.82 You showed how you could use your brains and your muscles to "Help other people at all times." As promised, I will double your efforts: We'll be sending a check to the American Red Cross. Today, Troop 96 sent $1936.82 to help the people of Haiti! Thank you, thank you, thank you. You made a difference - even if you never know how your money helps. By the way, our new Scouts to Troop 96 have taken up the challenge, too! We'll send in any of their donations on March 22.

Boy Scout Silver Dollar Now On Sale from the US Mint |

23 March 2010: The United States Mint began selling the 2010 Boy Scouts of America Centennial Silver Dollar. The Boy Scouts of America Centennial Commemorative Coin Act authorizes the United States Mint to mint and issue silver one-dollar coins to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America. Surcharges collected from sales of the coin will be paid to the National Boy Scouts of America Foundation, which will make funds available to local councils in the form of grants for the extension of scouting in hard-to-serve areas. The price goes up in 30 days! |

 Every registered member of Troop 96 (Scout and Adult) is eligible to receive one Troop 96 Commemorative Numerals Patch for their uniform shirt. If you didn't get one, please let us know. Also, all Scouts have received the new Centennial Uniform "green loops." The red loops are still "official," but they're so last century..
If you'd like more Troop 96 patches, they are available for only $5 each. |
