June Camping: Biking the I&M Canal
This month, the troop will head to Channahon State Park, a town that’s far southwest of Chicago near the Des Plaines River and historic I&M Canal. We’ll camp Friday night in Channahon at the State Park. On Saturday, we’ll ride the flat I&M Canal west. One ride will be about 20 or so miles while a second, longer ride of about 40 miles will also be available. On Saturday night, we will camp right on the river in a secluded, public campsite. It’s rustic and peaceful on the river.
This is a great outing that is an old favorite of our troop. Get your entire patrol and come on out. Parents are also encouraged to attend.
The permission slip is due this Monday night along with $15 cash for food purchases by Scouts in the patrol.
NOTE: ALL BIKES AND HELMETS MUST BE INSPECTED THIS MONDAY EVENING (unless other arrangements are made in advance of the campout). Without a safety inspection, no bike will be loaded on the trailer.
