Camping in March 2016

This month, we head to beautiful Camp Ohdakota near Burlington, Wisconsin.  We’ll stay at The Pines (with the teepee) and spend the weekend with a variety of Scouting adventures.

Jim Bryant – Eagle Scout

Jim B

Jim Bryant was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout on February 19, 2016!  The North Star Advancement Committee reviewed Jim’s scouting credentials and conducted a thorough interview.  Their unanimous decision means Jim becomes the second Eagle Scout of 2016 for Troop 96 and #68 overall.  Well done, Jim!  You’ve worked hard for this.  We look forward to celebrating with you at your Court of Honor.

You can be an Author!

Scouts, did you know that you can write an article for this troop website?  Yes, it’s easy.  There is also a special menu just for the Patrols to be able to write articles and report on their own news.

All you have to do is log in to the site (you’ll need to create an account if you don’t already have one.  Make sure it’s okay with your parents.)  Click on the “submit an article” on the left side of the screen.  You will then have an “editors” screen where you can write your article, give it a title and submit it.  The article is then sent to one of the site administrators for review and publishing.  That’s it!

A couple of reminders: don’t use a Scout’s full name, only first name and last initial.  Don’t include personal information like addresses, phone numbers or emails addresses.  Keep the article short.  Tell your friends to check the website to see your work when it’s published.

Scout Parents are invited to Mug Club

To improve our interactions with parents, we’ve started a “Mug Club.” It’s held during the troop meeting in the kitchen.  Mrs. Cheri Blenniss is leading this program on a weekly basis.  Stop by, have a cup of coffee, learn about a Scouting topic and meet some new friends.
Here are the topics she has planned for upcoming weeks:

  • Feb 15th – mb Counselors
  • Feb 22nd – merit badges
  • Feb 29th – crossover questions
