September 2015 Camping

This month on the weekend of Sept 18-20, the troop is heading to the very farthest western edge of the State of Illinois.  We’ll camp overlooking the Big Muddy at Mississippi Palisades State Park.  It’s a beautiful state park just north of Savanna, Illinois.  On Saturday, we’ll head to Chestnut Mountain Resort to spend the day Roller Luging on their 1800-foot long track!

You can get the Permission Slip HERE.  The signed form is due on Sept 14.

The cost for Roller Luging will depend on how many participants we have.  It is $30 per person for unlimited rides. (That number could drop if we have a large enough group to get a lower rate.)  We will collect it the Monday before the campout (Sept 14) so we know how many are going and can plan accordingly.

See the USA painted in 26 seconds!

On August 13, several Scouts and adults performed a Service Project at Murphy School in Round Lake.  The group re-painted the map of the USA which had faded near the entrance to the school.  Check out this video on YouTube to see their work in just 26 seconds.  Special thanks to Mr. Rocky Lee and Mrs. Julie Beard who coordinated the project and to the Scouts and adults who made it look so great.

Family Invitational this weekend

Your family is invited to join the troop at Rock Cut State Park this weekend.  Scouts will leave as usual on Friday evening and families can plan to join us for dinner and a campfire after lunch on Saturday.  We plan to eat about 6 with a troop campfire about 8:30 that should end by 9:15 or so.  Families can stay and camp if they like or head home after the campfire.  Please RSVP at the troop meeting or to Mr. Klemens (onmyhonor@ameritech.net) no later than Thursday, Aug 13.  Please join us.
