On Dec 21, the North Star District Eagle Scout Board of Review met to review Nathan C’s advancement credentials. The Board scrutinized his paperwork and thoroughly reviewed his project documentation. After interviewing Nathan, they announced he was our newest Eagle Scout. For his Eagle Scout Service Project, Nathan delivered a homebuilt media cabinet for use by Joy Lutheran Church. Well done, Nathan!
On Dec 5, the troop worked our monthly service project at PADS. We spent about an hour in the basement of the United Protestant Church in Grayslake to help them prepare for those who would be sleeping overnight in their shelter. Some 43 people were expected to take refuge at the shelter that night. Click Read More for two photos of the crew that helped out. Thank you.

This year, the troop accepted the challenge to help the US Marine Corps supply toys to those less fortunate this Christmas. Mr. Nitto organized the effort as part of his Wood Badge ticket and the results speak for themselves. Click Read More below to see our collection, learn where the toys go and how else you could help…

We submitted our Bird Census data. Check out this link to Cornell University’s Urban Bird Program to learn more and see that they appreciate Troop 96, too.
The North Star District Board of Review met at Grayslake’s Fire Station #2
to examine his credentials and interview Christian M. At the end of a very thorough review, they congratulated Christian and announced that he is now an Eagle Scout. Christian’s Eagle Scout Service Project supported the Equestrian Connection’s mission to help those with special needs connect with horses. Well done! We look forward to celebrating with you at your Court of Honor.

Twelve Webelos Scouts from Mrs. Goger’s den in Pack 627 visited the troop on Dec 9th (eleven are in the photo). The Scouts came to learn more about their big decision to join Boy Scouting. Also, since each Webelos wants to complete his Arrow of Light Award, I held individual Scoutmaster Conferences with the boys to ensure that this particular requirement is met (and to give us a chance to talk one-on-one). Thanks for visiting us again. We’re looking forward to your Crossover Ceremony and welcoming you to the adventures of Boy Scouting.
